Preparing for our next show, Our Enchanted Garden – by Lady Magnolia
One of the most exciting things about preparing for a new burlesque show is the night that the Rougettes and Lady Magnolia’s Bevy of beauties audition their new solo and duet acts. It’s something that I look forward to from moment we decide on a theme for the show.
Last Wednesday, I had the privilege of being the first person to view 6 new acts, all created especially for our October show. We’ve been doing our studio shows for 2 years now and it’s amazing to see how everyone has grown and settled into their characters. Costuming, stage presence, concept and content have all gotten stronger and bolder. I particularly love the choice of music from each performer and look forward to a show full of diversity and variety.
The theme for this show is Our Enchanted Garden, so I was expecting to see fairies and flowers and honey bees! My burlesque goddesses, however, seem to have leaned towards a slightly darker take on the theme and so I will have to call on my inner hippie to bring the sunbeams and butterflies while they weave their magic and bewitch the audience.
One of our dancers took ill last week, so I still have one audition to look forward to after burlesque class on Wednesday. I am sure that the 6 brand new beginners will be delighted to get a sneak peak into the world of sequins, pasties and body glue that awaits them.
Thank you to each of the dancers who auditioned, it really is a pleasure to work with you and I am honored to provide a stage for you to share your magic.
We look forward to seeing you all there! Tickets to Our Enchanted Garden are available here:
